Parker - Heston Zoom 30 - 55x Telescope
A very good vintage zoom telescope marked Parker Heston. These scarce telescopes feature pancratic lenses, which provide excellent bright views from 30 - 55x magnification. Over all, the brass tubes are firm and without unnecessary play, being free of dents with just a minor edge abrasion to the front of the sunhood - The leatherwork and stitches are superb. All lenses are generally good but with minor dust. As a medium sized telescope packing these magnification capabilities, it is excellent not just for close up target observation at the range but also for long distance field use, and it's capable of discerning the rings of Saturn, handheld! It comes complete with both leather end covers of military type.
The "Heston" title is linked to the Rifle Club of the same name, located close to Heathrow. At the time or soon after WW2 when the telescope was made, Heston was a distinguished shooting club responsible for training Home Guard and local people to resist possible German invasion.
