A WW2 Timor Wristwatch, c.1943
A WW2 military ATP watch, humorously presented to a soldier for "25 years - N&B". Otherwise known as "Nuts & Bolts" by technical tradesmen; mechanics, armorers, and electricians were scattered across the Royal Army Ordnance Corps, Royal Engineers and Royal Army Service Corps but in 1942 a new regiment the, Royal Electrical, Mechanical Engineers was created to help with wartime logistics. This was a welcome development.
Unfortunately I do not know the details of the original recipient but the watch would have been marked in-house, probably by a REME watchmaker, and likely given to a soldier of standing within the regiment. While such long service was not typical in the British Army, there were many instances of experienced tradesmen being actively retained during WW2.
This Timor watch is in excellent condition with little cosmetic wear, sold in working order.
