Brass Drum Campaign Alarm Clock c.1895

A very good "Campaign" Alarm Clock of drum style, which were typically hung on centre posts inside bell tents, although they could also be stood upright by means of their two small feet. Interestingly, the clock's balance function can be viewed through the inspection panel on top of the drum. Plus, on the inside of the case there is a plethora of etched detail, presumably relating to the clock's owner, together with numerous watchmaker repair dates, many of them from the Boer War period.

Presented in original condition this rugged clock is in remarkably good order, retaining much of its factory finish and a perfect enamel dial. It is in full working order and comes with a key.

Overall, a superb clock unlike many of the basic campaign clocks of the same period.
