WW1 Hermetic Record Pocket Watch
A scarce Hermetic pocket watch of railway or service pattern by Record. Presented in working order, this is a robust watch that was made by a known military supplier, but it shows no issue marking. It is in excellent original condition
Waterproof watches were still in their infancy during WW1, but they were evolving. One way of improving a watch's ability to prevent the ingress of dirt and water, was to create a case that had fewer openings. This design, with the swing out movement, was called a hermetic watch. Note also the special beveled edge on the very thick crystal.
A gorgeous watch that is running well but has not been serviced.
