WW1 Sopwith Camel Propellor Clock

A scarce WW1 souvenir 8-day clock made from the propellor boss of a Royal Flying Corps aircraft.

The wooden propellor is clearly impressed, if a little rubbed, with details of the aircraft type, "SOPWITH F1 130HP CLERGET", which is better known as the Sopwith Camel fighter. In the centre of the boss is an 8-day clock which uses a robust Coventry marked movement within a robust brass housing, with the dial marked, "J.BRUCE & SONS".

The clock has been running very well but to ensure its longevity, this superb timepiece will undergo a full service and a brass key will be provided.

In a nutshell; during any clock or watch service that we carry out, we do not restore our historic timepieces, however, we do clean the movements and cases to rid them of any old oils and dirt, which helps to preserve the timepieces, before timing them for future generations to use and enjoy.
