WW1 Silver Trench Watch, c.1915

A good example of a Swiss-made WW1 "Trench" wristwatch, has a perfect enamel dial with the popular, red "12". Originally these would have been luminous numerals as fitting for a military timepiece, but this has long gone. On the inside of the case, there are silver hallmarks, including a "G.S." referring to the British importer, George Stockwell.

These early 'wristlets' were typically worn by younger officers but by 1917, army manuals were recommending them as, "indispensable" for use by NCOs. Protective covers, such as the genuine silver mesh example found with this watch, greatly helped to prevent damage and overall, this timepiece has survived in superb dent-free condition - used but not abused. It also keeps very good time.

The watch comes fitted on a repro, lightly worn leather strap of the correct WW1 military pattern.

Diameter excluding the crown = 34mm
