US Gambler's Percussion Rifled Boot Pistol, c.1830

Consignment Sale: A rare US percussion pistol, c.1830, featuring a rifled barrel and a rounded profile with a concealed hammer, designed to be worn within a boot holster, or otherwise concealed. Possibly intended for the gambling man, with its profuse decoration and large calibre, approximately 22 bore.

Generally untouched, this delightful and possibly custom made pistol, is presented in strong working order, with an automatic hammer operated by the pull of the trigger. The black American hardwood butt is also fashioned to have a no-snag outline and bears a white metal heart-shaped escutcheon.

Although the butt does have a compartment for additional caps, this large bore barrel has no provision for a rammer, adding to the concealability of the piece.

A great example from the Wild West.

Barrel length = 2 inches
Overall length = 6½ inches
